RCsDP College of Pharmacy Wins Anew Major Prizes at DUPHAT 2017
The Riyadh Colleges of Dentistry and Pharmacy again won major prizes at the recent DUPHAT Conference in Dubai. Two entries from RCsDP won third and fifth prizes at the Poster Competition of the Dubai International Pharmaceuticals and Technologies Conference and Exhibition 2017 which was held last week from March 7 to 9, 2017 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
The third prize winning poster was on the research with the title “Evaluation of the Antimicrobial Effect of Expired Oral Antibiotics: An In-vitro study”. This was a faculty-student collaboration research supervised by Dr. Sasha Mohammed Elamin Suliman and co-supervised by Dr. Dalia Abdelazim Sharafeldin, Pharm. Suzan Alzir and Pharm. Yusra Alkamali. The student researchers were Kawther Al Gasham, Hadel AlMosfir, Hessa Al Khnfri and Marwa AlHaji
The poster that won fifth place was the on “The Assessment of Stability and Antibacterial Efficiency of Selected Preservatives in Foodstuff from Saudi Market in Riyadh City”. Research supervisors were Dr. Dalia Abdelazim Sharafeldin and Dr. Zuhour Ibrahim; co-supervisors were Pharm. Manal Bashir, Ms. Hanadi Anklis, Ms. Nouf AlSadoun, Ms. Mai Alyabis and Ms. Yusra Alkamali. Student researchers were Hanan Algarni, Ohoud Alshammari, Haya Almylahi and Marwa Arnous.
RCsDP takes pride in the fact that it has consistently won major prizes in DUPHAT every year that it has participated.
The DUPHAT this year was its 22nd edition. It registered a remarkable participation of 1200 students from 50 universities, pharmaceutical colleges, and 25 schools in the scientific activities which were held parallel to the conference. Its scientific program this year richly featured 168 local and international speakers; 172 scientific sessions and 36 workshops that covered several pharmaceutical topics, in addition to 612 poster presentations. The conference also had a remarkable participation from GCC delegates in scientific sessions that were presented by pharmaceutical societies and associations from Saudi, Kuwait, Oman, and Bahrain.
DUPHAT is considered one of the largest events dedicated to the pharmaceutical field and related technologies, approved and accredited by the Ministry of Health and Prevention in the UAE, Dubai Health Authority;the Society of Hospital Pharmacists, Australia; and the Royal Pharmaceutical Society – UK.
